What are incentive points?
Incentive points is a system that I believe can make class time more focused and beneficial, while also rewarding you, the students, with things that you want or want to do for your hard work and good behavior.
The key here is, you'll be in school, doing your work, and trying to get a good grade anyway, right? So what does incentive points add to this? Incentive points will reward you for doing all of those things well. This way, you'll hopefully do even better, while getting to do things that you want to do as well.
For this system to work, we will be picking out individual and group rewards as a class. These rewards have to be fun, fair, and of course, I have to approve them first.
Now, you might be saying, I like the sound of this, but how do I get these points?
Well, I want to give you the option to make up possible rewards as well, but some of the basic things I had in mind were:
If you were in your seat, and had your folders and materials when the bell rang - 1 point
Came to class with everything you would need for class (pencils/pens, paper, charged laptop/netbook, etc...) - 2 points
I select an assignment that the whole class is doing, and for every part on the assignment you get right, you get 1 point.
Peer-tutored another student - 5 points
Now, of course, you're probably wondering, "well, what exactly can I use these points for?" I havent created an entire list of rewards just yet, but I do have a picture of another teacher's reward list, to kind of give you an idea of what is fair and reasonable.
